The south base camp is in Nepal and is the most famous one. However, the north base camp is located on the Tibet side. Unlike the south EBC, you can travel to the north EBC via jeep. The roads are well-made, and the drive is quite scenic.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our representatives will greet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to the hotel. If you have any immediate questions or need help, please ask our representative. The remaining day is free.

Start the day bright and early with a delicious breakfast. After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel lobby for a quick tour briefing. We will provide a private vehicle with a driver for a smooth tour. Visit the famous Monkey Temple, situated on top of the hill.

The view of Kathmandu is superb from here. Then you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. These two durbar squares are open museums. Some parts of the places and temples are limited to the public. Get to know about Nepal's history and culture during the tour.

This is another tour day in Kathmandu. Today, you will visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the significant pilgrimage sites for Hindus in Nepal. Likewise, you will visit the Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal and the center of Tibetan Buddhism in the country.

The final monument for this day is Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The art, architecture, and rich cultural heritage surrounding this site are phenomenal. The guide will drop you back at the hotel after the tour ends.

It is a full free day in the city for you. We have not planned anything on this day. You can spend as you wish. Explore local markets, try Nepali food, and do window shopping. You can also go to a spa, get a massage, etc. Likewise, you can join a yoga session, cooking class, or pottery class. The options are limitless. Note that you have to pay fees for the activities.

On this day, you will fly to Lhasa. The flight will take around 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will see breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan mountains during the flight. Upon landing in Lhasa, our Tibetan representatives will welcome you.

They will escort you to the hotel. Spend a few hours resting and getting acclimatized. Later in the evening, you can visit the local market and explore around your hotel.

Today is your first day of sightseeing in Lhasa. You will visit the Potala Palace, one of the finest architectural marvels in Tibet. The intricate designs and art in rooms, halls, chapels, and antique furnishings will leave you in awe.
After exploring the palace, you will drive to Sera Monastery. It is one of the three main monasteries in Tibet. You can see monks engaging in lively debates here, along with unique traditions that have been passed down for centuries.

The final destination for the day is Norbulingka, which once was the palace of the Dalai Lama. This palace's complex architecture and wood/metal craftsmanship are a must-see. It is surrounded by lovely gardens and ponds.

You will spend one more day exploring a few other tourist sites in Lhasa. Start the morning with a delicious Tibetan breakfast, and then get ready for the full day of the tour. You will first visit Drepung Monastery.

The monastery once housed 10,000 monks and was home to four colleges. The location of the monastery offers a stunning view of Mt. Gambo Utse as well as an aerial view of Lhasa.
After exploring this place, you will return to your hotel, rest, and later visit the Jokhang Temple. It is one of the notable temples in Tibet. The aurora surrounding the temple is exceptionally divine and soothing.
Likewise, you will end the tour exploring the lively streets of Barkhor Street. It is a popular tourist market in Lhasa with many prayer wheels, souvenirs shops, cafes, and restaurants.

We will leave Lhasa early in the morning today. It is around a 6 to 7 hours drive from Lhasa to Gyantse. The highway is very scenic. On the way, you will enjoy arid Tibetan landscapes, mountain views, and small towns.

As the drive continues, you will gradually ascend to Kamba La. The top of the pass offers a wonderful view of Yamdrok Lake. Soon, you will reach Kora La pass. The view of the Karola glacier from the pass is incredible.
From the pass, the road takes you to Gyantse. Here, you will visit the Pelkor Chode Monastery. Situated amidst barren hills, the monastery's exquisite architecture, and centuries-old murals and statues are worth exploring.

We have a long day ahead of us. We will leave Gyantse early in the morning and visit Tashilhunpo monastery. It is the home of the Panchen Lama. Likewise, you will also visit the Kumbum monastery.

After a short tour of some tourist sites in Gyantse, you will continue the ride to Shigatse. The road goes via the Nyangchu Valley, where you can see vast yak and horse pastures.

Drive from Shigatse to Xegar, crossing the Gyatchula Pass (5,200 m). The ride then continues to Rongbuk, the closest settlement from the other base camp of Mt. Everest. The road is zigzag, and you will visit the Sakya Monastery on the way.

You will enjoy a golden sunset over Mt. Everest if the weather is clear. Witness breathtaking views of mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Shisapangma, etc. After exploring, return to your hotel in Shigatse to spend the night.
You can spend the night at Rongbuk monastery or return to Shigatse.

Today, you will drive back to Kerung. Start driving from Rongbuk early in the morning and enjoy a scenic ride back to Kerung. The highway offers beautiful views of hills, mountains, and lakes. Kerung is a border town on the Tibet side.

Complete the border formalities and meet our Nepali team waiting to pick you up on the other side of the border. Enjoy a comfortable ride back to Kathmandu. Our team will drop you off at your hotel. The remaining day is free.
